The beautiful people living in glorious black-and-white worlds fascinated Kelly as far back as 3 years of age. When she was 11, an old theater reopened halfway between her and her best friend’s houses. This theater showed double features for $1 and showcased a classic actor or team every week. Some of the most memorable weeks for Kelly were Fred & Ginger week, Hepburn & Tracy week, BLONDIE week, and, of course, Judy Garland week. Her love of film, music, art, theater, and worthy causes drove Kelly to pursue a career as an entertainment journalist for several publications in Dallas, Texas. For the past 22 years, she has been on the other side of the media game working as a film publicist with clients like Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas—DFW, Dallas VideoFest, 24-Hour Video Race, Dallas International Film Festival, and the McKinney Classic Film Festival as well as many others. |
![]() Jim Reid Projectionist Jim Reid was sunk the minute he saw The Golden Age of Comedy in the early '60s. From that time, collecting and watching movies were all he thought about. "I like to think of myself as the Johnny Appleseed of classic films. If I can get somebody to sit and watch, I'll run a movie for them." Jim has run his 16mm prints at The Texas, Majestic and Plaza (Garland) theaters. He's also done programs at the 508 Park Amphitheater, Turner House (Oak Cliff) and various area churches. He has been running silent films for the North Texas Chapter of the American Theater Organ Society in the MPAC Courtroom Theater for the last 12 years. Last but not least, he runs films in his home theater, "The Allister Street Cinema" for The Dallas Classic Film Group. His other passion is Texas Ranger baseball. "This might be their year!" |
